 Stacey
Archer-Little has only been a member of the Bolingbrook Park
District staff since August of 1999, but she has made an impact
in the community that will last for years to come. Stacy is
a part-time dance instructor for the park district's dance programs.
She is also the coordinator for the BPD Danceforce and Power
Dance Project.
Stacey has dedicated her life to dance and making
a difference in her community. Stacey moved to Bolingbrook
in 1999 from Hawaii. While in Hawaii she founded Hawaii's
most prestigious high school dance-theatre company - Kamehameha
Performing Arts Company; produced over 15 professional dance
concerts; created the curriculum for Kamehameha Schools' Performing
Arts Department; revamped the University of Hawaii Rainbow
Dancers into a nationally acclaimed dance team; co-founded
Hawaii's first non-profit dance organization - Hawaii Dance
Alliance. The list of Stacey's past accomplishments is even
more extensive including dancing with the
NBA Indiana Pacers' Pace Mates.
After teaching a Hip Hop class for the park
district, Stacey noticed a huge interest in Hip Hop in the
Bolingbrook Community. Stacey approached the Park District
about starting the BPD Danceforce and the Power Dance Project.
The BPD Danceforce is the mother group of the Power Dance
Project. The BPD Danceforce is designed to create leaders
in the schools and community. The dance team performs at a
variety of venues in the community, spread the word about
the program, and volunteer. A key element to the program is
Character Counts. Character Counts is a national program designed
to instill good character in children. Hundreds of Bolingbrook
youth have participated in or observed a BPD Danceforce or
Power Dance Project performance.
Through Stacey's vision, hard work, and
desire to give back to her community, she has made and will
continue to make a positive impact in the lives of hundreds
of Bolingbrook youth.
