We all play
a part in recyling to really make an impact. According to the 2007 Community-wide Survey, 99% of respondents are willing, able and ready to recycle in the parks and teach their kids to do the same. Recycle similar materials in the parks and facilities as you do at home. Below is breakdown of what you can recycle.
Newspaper (and all inserts)
Magazines, Catalogs, Phone Books
Junk Mail (construction paper, colored paper, etc)
Office Paper (letter, letterhead, envelopes without windows, fax paper)
Chipboard (cereal boxes, tissue boxes, paper towel & toilet paper rolls, etc)
Cardboard (must fit in container and can be cut up)
Metal Products (aluminum cans, tin/steel and bi-metal cans, food and beverage cans only)
Glass Products (bottles and jars)
Plastic Products (all plastic bottles and containers with the symbols listed below)

Items not to be included are: window glass, ceramics, mirrors, light bulbs, Pyrex, drinking glasses, petroleum products of any kind, anti-freeze containers, oil containers of any kind.
Please remove plastic bottle caps before the bottle goes in the bin to make it easier to crush the bottle and most lids are not recyclable. If you can, please rinse the cans and bottles before they go in the recycling containers. This reduces smells and attracts
fewer animals and insects.
Every three years Bolingbrook Park District engages an independent firm to conduct a community-wide survey to measure resident awareness, participation, satisfaction and interests. The survey responses help shape the future direction of the Park District.
This year, Drs. Nick DiGrino and Dan Yoder, of Western Illinois University, were commissioned to conduct the survey.
Twenty-five percent of Bolingbrook households were randomly selected and received the survey in April. On Thursday, June 18 the Park District was presented with the results of the community-wide survey. The survey response rate was very good. One thousand, one hundred and seventy (1,170) of the 5,778 surveys were returned for a return rate of 20.3%.
The next and most critical task is to develop an action plan from the results of the community-wide survey. Staff convened on Thursday, July 12 to begin developing the response plan, which will take about 60 days to complete. The response plan will then be incorporated into the District’s long-range plan and guides decisions for the next two to three years.
