Bolingbrook Park District Rolls Out Unplug Illinois Campaign

Bolingbrook Park District has officially rolled out its Unplug Illinois campaign for 2019. Unplug Illinois is a statewide movement from Illinois Park and Recreation Association designed to get people to “unplug” and enjoy active play opportunities at parks across Illinois.

Unplug Illinois promotes healthier lifestyles, sustainable environments, thriving economies and engaged communities.

The new campaign features free events including the Summer Concert Series, Visit Your Local Parks and Movies in the Park. On July 13, Bolingbrook Park District will participate in Unplug Illinois Day with Parkie’s Pool Party at Pelican Harbor Indoor/Outdoor Aquatic Park.   The campaign concludes with Parkie’s Famous 5K/10K & Kids Fun Dash on Saturday, August 24.

“This is a special campaign for us. Giving people reasons to be outside and having fun with friends and family is exactly the type of thing we want to be part of,” said executive director, Ron Oestreich. We have so much open space and so many activities going on this summer that we encourage everyone to find something to do to unplug, no matter the age or interest.”

Unplugging has been shown to help improve quality of life, help you feel more recharged every day, help you sleep better, and improve your Interpersonal communication.
