Celebrate “Unplug Illinois Day” with Bolingbrook Park District

Bolingbrook Park District is celebrating Unplug Illinois Day on Saturday, July 13 with discounted rates to Pelican Harbor Aquatic Park with Parkie’s Pool Party.  Proceeds of the event will benefit the Lily Cache Special Recreation Association (LCSRA) Sensory Room Campaign. Families can also visit Hidden Lakes Historic Trout Farm and rent a canoe.

Unplug Illinois Day encourages communities across Illinois to ditch their electronic devices and ‘unplug’ to enjoy everything their local park and recreation agencies have to offer.   Parkie’s Pool Party at Pelican Harbor Aquatic Park (200 Lindsey Ln.) will be from noon-6:00 pm.  Admission for the event is only $4 for residents with a Bolingbrook Park District resident ID card and $8 for non-residents.

Proceeds from admissions and the raffle will be donated to the (LCSRA) Sensory Room Campaign. For more information the campaign, visit www.lcsrasensoryroomcampaign.org.  To serve the growing need of having a safe space for children and adults to de-stress and regulate their emotions, Lily Cache Special Recreation Association (LCSRA) has set a goal of $75,000 to equip a sensory room at the Annerino Community Center in Bolingbrook. LCSRA represents the partnership between Bolingbrook and Plainfield Park Districts in their mission to serve the special needs population. Plainfield residents with valid ID will enjoy the resident discounted rate of $4 during the event.

From 1:00-5:00 pm at Hidden Lakes Historic Trout Farm, families can rent a canoe for just $10 per half hour.  All you have to do is visit the Bait Shop, located at 475 Trout Farm Rd.
