Ashbury's at Boughton Ridge Changes

BOLINGBROOK, Ill. - If you've been to Ashbury's at Boughton Ridge over the past few days, you may have noticed some changes going on.  Among those changes is Jennifer Navarro, the new General Manager of Ashbury's.  The Bolingbrook native brings 17 years of hospitality service to the table.

Jennifer got her start by working for a local pizza place in town and even worked for her mother, who was a part of the leadership department at the Bolingbrook Portillo's for over 20 years.  From there, she has worked for restaurant groups and brief stints in the private sector.  Every time she left the hospitality world, with her knowledge and experience, she was recruited right back in.

"There's something unique about the hospitality industry in general.  Being in hospitality, you have to be a jack of all trades," said Navarro.  "There's a unique challenge, a new obstacle to face, and I like that dynamic type of mix 'no day is the same,' it's more of an addiction than anything.  It's an 18-hour-a-day adrenaline high."

A lot of the changes will be revealed over the next two weeks to Ashbury's at Boughton Ridge, with all of them culminating at an event happening on December 1, where everything will be $5 and under, with feature live entertainment from "The Kevin Hayden Band" and beer, wine and liquor samples throughout the evening.

Ashbury's will feature three all-new menus: lunch, dinner and bar, with re-worked menu items and brand-new menu items while keeping the favorites from the past.  On top of that, another big announcement will be the A-Bar.  With a fresh new look, specialty craft beers and a full wine list, it is sure to bring in the beer and foodie in your group.

"We want to be able to reach the masses of Bolingbrook and say "Ok, 75,000 population demographic, all of you have a place at Ashbury's and we really hope that the community is going to receive that well and come in and give us another try, whether they have had a bad experience here prior, or if they've never been here before, we want them to come in and check us out."

Jennifer has been in the job for only a few short months and has already hired two new staff members: Assistant General Manager Cindy Kieswetter and Banquet & Events Manager, Krissy McDonald.  John Fleischner remains as Executive Chef.  With Jennifer and her team, you're bound to have an entirely new experience the next time you visit.

"Being able to bring in some of my ideas and my industry knowledge while integrating them in to a park district setting has been a lot of fun - challenging, but fun because Ashbury's and the park district 'where the fun is' we try to keep that ever present - all the time.  It's been a roller coaster and I'm just looking forward to it coming together," said Navarro.

"Moving forward, I would like people to know that we have a great menu with wonderful flavor profiles," said Navarro.  "It's somewhere that people can go and expect not only to have fun, but enjoy great tasting food and a level of service that is absolutely at, or over par."
