Executive Director, Ron Oestreich Receives Business Leadership Award

On Thursday, March 26, at the 11th Annual Best of Bolingbrook Business Awards, Bolingbrook Park District Executive Director Ron Oestreich was awarded the Business Leadership Award.

Each year, the Bolingbrook Area Chamber of Commerce recognizes two outstanding individuals for their commitment to business and community.  Along with Oestreich, Bolingbrook Mayor Roger C. Claar received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

"I'm flattered and extremely proud to receive this award," said Oestreich.  "I am involved in many organizations and quite frankly, this award is something that I never even thought about being a possibility.  Needless to say, I am surprised, and grateful for the Chamber of Commerce for the honor."

Oestreich has served in the field of Parks and Recreation for over 20 years, starting his career as the Facilities Specialist at the Skokie Park District in 1992.  When he was hired at Bolingbrook Park District, he served as the first full-time manager of Pelican Harbor Indoor/Outdoor Aquatic Park.  As he moved through the ranks, he was promoted to Superintendent of Revenue Facilities in 2000 before he was named Executive Director in 2012.

This isn't the first award that the Bolingbrook Park District has received from the Best of Bolingbrook Business Awards.  At last year's event, the district received the Business of the Year Award.

"Between last year's award and this one, it legitimizes how strong our reach is not only in the community, but throughout the vibrant business community that Bolingbrook has to offer," said Oestreich. "It's not just about business, but it's about government and business working together."

Throughout Ron's tenure, he has become involved in numerous organizations in Bolingbrook.  He currently serves as a Bolingbrook Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, is President-Elect for the Rotary Club of Bolingbrook, chairs the Character Development Program for the Kiwanis Club of Bolingbrook and Romeoville, is the Band Booster Board President for Plainfield East High School and has served for four years as the Program Director for the Mentor Club, which mentors youth in the area, sponsored by the IFC in Romeoville.

"I try to do the right thing and make a positive difference in people lives, I also try to instill that same philosophy into our Park District Team." said Oestreich.
