This successful youth sports
program is the local chapter of PONY Baseball, Inc.
(Protect Our Nation’s Youth). Based on the
premise that skill learned here can be utilized
throughout one’s life, social and personal
skills such as teamwork, sportsmanship and goal
setting are stressed as well as basic baseball skills.
PONY believes that rather than change the rules
of the game to make it possible for young people
to play, it is better to change the size of the
playing fields and to adjust them to the potential
of the players. With that thought in mind, PONY
used four different field sizes.
The distance between bases, pitching distance from
the mound to home plate,and the location of the
outfield fence are proportionately scaled to ages
of the player in a particular group. PONY also
believes that with age groups larger than 2 years
the younger players tend to be intimidated by the
older players. Therefore, PONY separates the players
into 2 year age groups. (See chart below) Registration
for BYBL is open to all Bolingbrook youth between
the ages of 8 and 18. All home games are played
at Indian Boundary Park on lighted diamonds with
grass infields and electronic scoreboards. Bronco,
Pony, Colt and Palomino teams will travel within
30 minutes for away games. A parent or guardian
must be present to register and have a photocopy
of the player’s birth certificate for BYBL
records and verification of age.

* 8 year olds are permitted to
play in the Mustang Division on parent request.
There will be a discount for anyone that registers
on the first Saturday registration in January and
everyone that registers will be placed on a team.
