The Bolingbrook Athletic Council (B.A.C.) encompasses nine volunteer youth sport organizations. The Council, through the Park District, is responsible for coordinating between its member organizations, facility and field usage, and coach's certifications. It serves as an advisory board in matters of youth sports. Council meetings are held the first Tuesday of the month from 8-10 pm at the Annerino Community Center.
Each B.A.C. organization is generally independent of the Bolingbrook Park District and is financially self-sufficient. Fees collected by B.A.C. organizations are kept by the organizations and used to fund the operation of their respective sports programs.
For additional information on any of the youth sports programs please contact their respective representative.

BOLINGBROOK SOCCER CLUB
The goal of soccer is fun: Recreational and Competitive Teams
The Bolingbrook Soccer Club (BSC) has programs to meet your level of interest. Whether you're looking for recreational and educational soccer (in-house) or higher-level competition soccer (traveling), we can help. The BSC recreational program has six age levels where kids experience a progressive level of soccer concepts and competition. Our Little Kickers program starts with 4 year olds and continues through our Senior Division designed for 12 to 14 year olds. Other recreational divisions include Elementary (5 and 6 year olds), Minors (experienced 6 year olds and 7 year olds), Juniors (8 and 9 year olds) and Intermediate (10 and 11 year olds). Registration in a particular division is limited based on number of coaches available.
The Little Kickers program consists of one-hour classes held on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings. The program is designed to introduce children to soccer through various games. All other recreational teams play on Saturdays with an occasional weeknight game. The 10-game spring season begins in September and continues into early November. Registration includes soccer shirt, shorts, socks, picture package and a participation award.
Our traveling program offers teams for boys and girls at most levels for ages 7 to 18. The traveling program begins adding to existing teams and creating new teams for the Fall 2008 and Spring 2009 seasons in June. They are periodically looking for players so visit our website for a list of coaches to contact. Tryouts are advertised and also posted at our web site. The fees for our traveling program are some of the lowest in the Chicago area. Girl squads participate in the Illinois Women's Soccer League (IWSL) while boys participate in the Northern Illinois Soccer League (NISL). Fees include league and tournament registration, professional trainers and light usage for practices.
To make any program a success and ensure everyone has an opportunity to play, volunteer coaches are needed. New to the sport? We will educate you through our coaches' clinics. If you are interested in coaching, you can volunteer online, at registration, or call Tom Cecola, Director of Coaching. Volunteers for the concession stand, referees, field marshals, team parents and general assistance are also welcome. If you have a particular area of expertise that may be beneficial to the club, please contact Greg Meyer.

America's Number One Crisis: OBESITY
Fight It!
It's a fact. The top trend in America is America's greatest crisis - OBESITY! Obesity effects everyone. It drives up medical insurance rates and the cost of prescription drugs.
According to a National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey, 30% of children age 6 to 10 are overweight or at risk of overweight. The number is more astounding for youth 11 to 16 where 44% were found to be overweight or at risk of overweight. Adults are even more overweight. There are several possible causes that can relate to obesity. Overweight and obesity may result from an imbalance of nutrition and/or physical activity, behavioral and environmental factors, as well as genetics, metabolic, cultural, and socio economic influences. Possible illnesses resulting from overweight are type II diabetes, heart disease, stroke, hypertension, gall bladder problems, sleep apnea, osteoarthritis, high cholesterol, infertility in women, asthma in children and higher levels of breast, prostate, and colon cancer.
Obesity and its associated illnesses contribute to both direct and indirect costs in health care. Direct costs refer to preventive, diagnostic, and treatment services related to overweight and obesity. Indirect cost refer to wages lost by people unable to work because of illness and disability. Statistics show that obesity can lower an individuals productivity while raising their health care costs by 36% and medication costs by 77%.
As a park, recreation and fitness business we are taking a lead role in combatting this national problem. Half-time and after-game snacks have become tradition with many youth sport groups. We strongly recommend that youth sport groups adopt and parents comply with the snack recommendations listed below.
